After finishing school I headed to University to study Business but was not sure exactly where I would end up at that time.
Upon graduating from university I wanted to head to one of the financial capitals of the world and experience life and travel. Like many young Australians, I headed to London. I spent two years there and was fortunate to work for a global company (Deutsche Asset Management) in their performance team.
I loved the excitement and buzz around the city, and it was a great place to work.
Having been born and raised in Brisbane the weather and lifestyle were too much of a drawcard and so I returned home in 2002.
I knew when I returned that I would love to work in finance but wanted to also live a balanced life, and Brisbane offers so much in that way.
Upon returning to Brisbane I joined a financial planning firm in Brisbane City as a Paraplanner and quickly commenced more study to become an authorised representative (Financial Planner).
I instantly loved working in a financial planning business as the relationships you were building with clients were much more personal. Despite commencing during a period of considerable market volatility I quickly learned how much trust clients place in their adviser and how much guidance we can provide to them to navigate through the good and bad times, and to help them stay on track.
It is extremely satisfying that many of our long term clients have referred their children to us and we now also call them clients.
I joined P3 Financial Planning in 2009 and have loved the long term relationships that we have built with our clients over so many years.
Outside of work these days I love spending time with my family and friends. In particular, I love watching my two sons play sport.
Watching sport, in general, is also a passion – rugby, league and cricket are my favourite sports, but I will watch anything competitive!
Getting the right work-life balance is something that is very important to me, and I love spending time with family and friends at a nice beachside campsite or fishing location when I have some time off.
